Your feedback

Many thanks for your feedback on the 2017 Festival.

We are always grateful to hear from walkers and get your ideas, suggestions and photographs.  Here we’ve tried to collect together a representative sample of comments and will do our very best to live up to them.

From Huntingdon:  ‘Thank you for a great time!  The two walks (Clun Forest and the Three Hills) took us along a network of paths and tracks we’d never have worked out for ourselves,  and gave us a sense of being away from the bustle, with great views from the tops, and very friendly company.  It’s good to be guided – you can just get on with the pleasure of walking.  Thanks to Mike, Beryl, Paul and Steve for looking after us.’

From Coventry:  ‘Thank you once again for providing very supportive and friendly guides on your organised walks.’

From Telford: ‘I would thoroughly recommend the BC walking festival as the area is truly spectacular and the organisation is superb.’

From Essex: ‘This was our first walking festival and it more than met our expectations; beginning with a very friendly drink at the Castle Hotel. The Saturday Stiperstones walk led by Jerry and Glynn was excellent, with loads of information and chat!  Sunday the sunny weather made our walk with Ted and Kerry even more fantastic!  The Shropshire hills were a perfect setting! The festival’s guides are just great and made the walks all the more special.  Thank you very much! Hope to come again!’

From Northampton:  ‘First  of all a big thank you to the hardworking team of 5.  We walked everyday. Overall a great week and we look forward to coming next year if you run it again.’

From Surrey:  ‘We thoroughly enjoyed the Three  Hills walk on May 17th with Paul and Steve. Thanks so much for arranging your walking festival again. I came down from Surrey on Sunday to do the Mines walk and the Long Mynd one. Both were extremely enjoyable and our leaders were very helpful and knowledgeable. Going down the mine was amazing. Thanks again to all involved.’

From Peterborough:  ‘… unanimous appreciation to all who helped host such an enjoyable walking festival. A well-chosen selection of walks, well-led, with much of interest for those not familiar with the delights of Shropshire. The evening events were extremely enjoyable and Bishops Castle itself proved to be a delightful location in its own right.’

From Church Stretton:  ‘Well organised arrangements – hope to take greater advantage next year.  In future, we plan for an overnight/s stay, so we can enjoy the social evenings.’

From Wolverhampton:  ‘I particularly like the longer more challenging walks.  I think it would be good if every festival has at least one hilly challenge walk (several fellow walkers commented the same).’

From Bishop’s Castle:  ‘I would just like to say how much I enjoyed the above walk on Wednesday 17th May. Despite a bad forecast the weather remained kind, facilitating a most enjoyable day exploring the three hills. Our leaders Paul and Steve were knowledgeable and informative and the group were a mixed ability bunch who I am sure found the scenery and climbs as superb as I did.  Considerable planning obviously went into the whole thing and those involved should be congratulated.’

From Craven Arms:  ‘Easy booking – very good value for price.  Knowledgeable leader, nice sized group – well planned route.  Excellent but challenging walk, well paced.  Fantastic scenery.  What’s not to like!’

From Leominster:  ‘Saw the website advertised on the Internet and had been planning to walk around the area for a long time.  Wasn’t disappointed – an excellent walk, plenty of variety, well led and very good company.’

‘Really enjoyed the seven mile walk.  Very well organised and led.  Leaders professional and friendly. Two excellent walks.  Good that group size is not too large – these ones just right.  Choice of walks good – would have like to try more of them!’

From London:  ‘Enjoyed the evening events; makes it more of a festival to have something to do and an opportunity to socialise with other walkers. Quiz was fun at the Hog Roast.  All nice and informal, which fits the feel of the Festival.  Nobody wants to dress up.  Will certainly come back next year.’

From Shropshire: ‘Excellent walk – Who Lived Here. Ted was a fantastic and informative leader. Beautiful walk on a beautiful day.  Would highly recommend the Festival to any keen walkers to not only see some fantastic countryside but also learn a little on the way.’

From Shropshire:  ‘We had a really nice bunch of walkers and I think they all enjoyed it very much (as did I).’

From Kent:  ‘I can’t remember how I heard about the festival because i started coming a long time ago.The walk descriptions and information were very comprehensive. The designation strenuous, energetic and moderate for the walks was helpful and accurate. This is essential for those coming from flatter areas like us as nine miles seems nothing but with Shropshire hills it is very different. The walk leaders were all very friendly and informed us fully about terrain health etc, before we set off. For me it was the best festival ever!

Bishop’s Castle Walking Festival – the friendliest of walking festivals!
